BLACKPOOL ILLUMINATIONS

In this section, find out more about the Blackpool Illuminations themselves. Where the Lights are made, the illuminated Trams, interesting facts, and more about the world famous light show.

The Blackpool Illuminations are world famous. Everyone has heard of the Lights, and everyone should visit at least once in their life!

In a nutshell, they stretch 6 miles from the north to south of the seafront at Blackpool, with festoons and overhead displays in the central section and the tableaus on the 'cliffs' at Bispham.

How would you describe the Blackpool Illuminations to someone who'd lived at the North Pole all theit life and didn't know anything about Blackpool? I think we'd say they are bright and colourful displays and creations made out of lightbulbs of all colours, with festoon strings and fantasy creations. I'm sure you could do better!

Throw into the spectacle the displays on the buildings, the big wheel on Central Pier and Blackpool Tower with it's incredible number of LEDs and you can see how the whole of Blackpool promenade comes to life at night.
