Hard to believe but it’s almost 19 years since the Phoenix Club first opened its doors, and to celebrate that very special anniversary, both series of Peter Kay’s classic comedy Phoenix Nights are being shown on the big screen for the very first time.
Following the previous announcement screenings last month an extra date has been announced at Blackpool Opera House on Saturday 29th February. Additionally, extra seats have been added London’s Eventim Apollo due to demand.
All net profits are in aid of Cancer Research UK and all the screenings will include exclusively recorded cast interviews.
So why not come on down to the Phoenix Club one last time to see Brian Potter, Jerry ‘the saint’ St Clair, Les Alanos, Max & Paddy and all the gang.
In fact, why not go a step further and dress up as one of your favourite characters, although wheelchair spaces will be limited.
Caro Evans, director of partnerships at Cancer Research UK said “We are so grateful to Peter for arranging these unique screenings of such an iconic TV series to raise money. The money that is raised from the events will fund vital research to beat cancer.”
Winter Gardens Tours

Our knowledgeable and experienced guides have many years’ experience at the venue and can offer a unique insight to the fascinating building.
These tours are one of the best ways to re-live the history of the venue and visit backstage areas not often open to the public. Tours will allow you to visit backstage of the Opera House and a chance to tread the boards so many famous faces have walked on before. The grandeur of the Empress Ballroom will be explored whilst the often-overlooked Spanish Suites will offer a unique insight into Blackpool’s largest entertainment venue*.
11.00am tours will introduce you to the fascinating history and beautiful architecture housed within the world-famous Winter Gardens Blackpool. These guided tours will give you the chance to explore and discover more about the extensive history the venue beholds after more than a century and will focus on the architecture and origins of the venue.

The LondonCats Cat Extravaganza is touring the UK and their next stop is Blackpool. The felines will be in town with a mission to stage, reward, and celebrate our purr-fect companions.
The event is associated with T ICA (The International Cat Association), which sanctions hundreds of cats shows annually across the globe and in 104 countries. T ICA currently recognises 71 breeds of cats and is the largest registry of pedigree and household pet cats in the world.
Amongst the different breeds of our cat show, there will be some of your favourites such as the Bengal, British Short Hair, Maine Coon, and Sphynx all under one roof competing for the ultimate prize of Best Kitten, Best Cat, Best Alter, and Best Household Pet.
Also joining these cats are the more exotic breeds such as the Lykoi (better known as the Werewolf cat) and Marguerites (an African Sand Cat cross). The show will bring together not just the UK cat community, but cats from around the world. As well as welcoming T ICA judges from around Europe and across the pond.
A purr-fect event for the whole family, there will be plenty of opportunities to pet and cuddle these furry friends. You can learn more about these intelligent animals and what makes cat’s fantastic companions by observing one of the six judging rings.

Who Am I, Again? An Evening with Lenny Henry

Join the legendary Sir Lenny Henry as he embarks on a brand new UK tour this autumn.
Lenny Henry is one of Britain’s best-known and celebrated comedians, with a career which began with cult stardom on children’s television to including writer, radio DJ, TV presenter, co-founder of Comic Relief and award-winning actor.
In the first half of the evening, Lenny will take the audience through a jam session of funny and sad memories and stories – from growing up in the Black Country, puberty, school, friendship, family secrets and unashamed racism. With his mother’s mantra of ‘H’integration’ echoing in his ears, Lenny will recount setting out on his rollercoaster ride of a career – but at every stage wondering: Am I good enough? Is this what they want?
In part two, Lenny will be interviewed by friend, broadcaster and author Jon Canter, for further insights into his life and career, followed by questions from the audience. Come and enjoy these honest and tender stories, told with a glorious sense of humour and help Lenny figure out ‘Who Am I Again?’

Wyre & Fylde Schools Sports Partnership, in association with the Winter Gardens Blackpool, are once again hosting this amazing charity and community event, celebrating Dance in schools across the Fylde Coast.
The event, now in its 11th Year, is in aid of the Winter Gardens Trust Charity. The Winter Gardens is a vital asset to our local community, where thousands of children use the famous Opera House for performing arts, musical theatre and educational visits. Your child together with their school will have the opportunity to tread the boards and perform on one of Europe’s largest stage, where thousands of famous people have performed before.
The event is about children, for children, and not only does the event help to boost their confidence and self-esteem, it also brings our community together to celebrate Dance in Schools. Children who are performing are requested to remain with their schools until the end of the performance.

The Sound of Music

The Opera House
New, upcoming bands have played in the Opera House including the like of Little Mix, along with old favourites such as Jane McDonald and Daniel O’Donnell who continue to return and some of the world’s best bands including Canada’s Arcade Fire – who selected the Winter Gardens as only one of three venues to play in the UK.
The Empress Ballroom
The magnificent Empress Ballroom is just as comfortable staging the World Dance Championships each year as it is hosting some of the world’s best rock and pop acts in concert.

The Winter Gardens is an incredible building with a long history. It first opened on 11 July 1878 and since then has grown and developed as an entertainment complex which mirrors the growth of the seaside town of Blackpool.
Right in the centre of the complex, in what is now the coffee shop, still stands the original building of the site around which the whole of the Winter Gardens has been built.
A Perfect Venue for your Event
The Winter Gardens offers a wide variety of venues for events ranging from small private business lunches to large scale conferences. You can also hold your wedding at the Winter Gardens. What could be better than a reception or banquet in the newly refurbished Derham Room? (pictured below).
The main rooms include the 2,900 capacity Opera House (the largest theatre stage outside London), the grand Empress Ballroom with a capacity of 3,250 people for concerts, and the 2,600 sq metre Olympia Exhibition Hall.
