Strawberry Gardens, Poulton Road, Fleetwood, FY7 6TF
Having begun life as a celebration of real ales for enthusiasts, this has grown year-on-year and is now a popular event for locals who enjoy the great atmosphere and live entertainment, while still attracting real-ale aficionados from near and far.
For the first time last year hand pumps and chillers were introduced, replacing the original tap system, which proved to be even more popular.
Last year was the most sucessful festival to dat, when Fleetwood was bathed in warm sunshine and revellers came out in hordes to enjoy the event. A barbecue was constantly cooking outside and was very popular. The weather forecast for this weekend is fantastic and another big turnout is expected.
From 5pm each week, Thursday night is curry night at the Strawberry Bistro.
With a different weekly special it's just £7.50 with a free pint thrown in!!

The Strawberry has had another world famous celebrity visitor! The opera star Alfie Boe popped in for a pint or two on whilst on a visit to his home town to see his family!
The Strawberry Gardens now boasts 18, YES! 18! Cask Ale hand pumps on the bars. We are also proud to be one of the first pubs in the UK to sell two new products, the first being Shipyard American Craft Ale! A well established beer in the USA, this has never been available on draught in the UK before. Alongside this we are also one of the first to stock a brand new beer to the UK, Krusovice, a Czech beer, which fits in perfectly with the ethos of the Strawberry. We also have the popular Swedish Cider Rekorderlig strawberry & lime on draught, and Belgian beer Fruli.Watch this space for further updates!
We have also added an old favourite to our beer portfolio, OYSTER STOUT, a traditional stout which we feel will complement our other range of fine ales perfectly!
The Strawberry Gardens waves bye-bye to comedian Syd Little and his wife Sheree, who have been providing meals at the Strawberry Gardens for the past three years.
Dave & Maureen Shaw, Landlord and Landlady of the Strawberry Gardens, said that “We wanted to extend our food opening times and increase the range of meals we offer. Syd & Sheree didn’t want to be part of our expansion plans and subsequently decided to leave.”
Our existing Head Chef, Nick Beenham and his wife Annie, have taken over from Syd and Sheree in the newly refurbished Strawberry Bistro
The lounge bar area has been refurbished and the dining area has been extended to include the whole of the lounge bar, to more than double the number of covers available.
Dave & Maureen Shaw saved the Strawberry Gardens from the developers when they took over in March 2011 and opened on the 8th April 2011, hence the opening of the Strawberry Bistro will coincide with the fifth birthday clebrations.
The Strawberry Gardens has become one of the leading Real Ale and Continental Beer pubs in Lancashire and was Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre CAMRA pub of the year in 2014.
Dave Shaw said “Successful pubs these days have to provide good quality interesting food in addition to an extensive range of real and continental ales. The layout of the Strawberry Gardens with two separate bars lends itself ideally to being able to keep passionate real ale drinkers separate from diners if they wish to.”
The Strawberry Bistro has an extensive menu of regularly available dishes together with ever changing daily specials and including our popular Thursday Curry nights and Sunday Lunches.

Voted December Pub of The Month by www.yourround.co.uk
The Strawberry is a traditional Victorian red brick building that dates back to the historical beginnings of Fleetwood, when it was built as a hotel with huge gardens that stretched right back to the sea near the boating lake. It was the number one place in town, a ‘Skippers’ pub, rather than one of the plain boozers that the ordinary sailors used while they were drinking their wages on dry land.
Today, it takes its place at the heart of the Fleetwood community, as a welcoming venue with things happening all year round.
First and foremost this is a real ale pub – the wall next to the bar is covered from top to bottom with the pump labels of literally dozens of specialist real ales from micro breweries all over the UK. A changing variety of beers are served, and through the Your Round alerts, real ale members get a text message alerting them to the new barrels that are waiting for them to sample at The Strawberry.
Current beers which are available are updated each week, and you can find out what the current real ales are at The Strawberry Gardens here.
On the right hand side of the building you’ll find the Vaults, where the real ale drinkers gather to sample, taste, savour and appreciate these lovingly prepared ales, and tick them off as a new taste acquired. Hot food is barred from the Vaults, so as not to impair the sense of smell and taste and allow the full flavour of the beer to be savoured.
All the beers served at The Strawberry Gardens are either real ale or chemical free modern alternatives – including a genuine Bavarian beer called Paulaner which is brewed in Munich, where they employ strict brewing guidelines to create a good quality pint. Other modern beers are from Freedom Brewery in Staffordshire, who brew their lagers to strict Bavarian and Czech recipes. The noticeable difference is that with these good quality drinks you won’t get a hangover (unless of course you drink far too much!) as it’s the chemicals that are found in modern beers which create that morning after feeling!
The range of continental beers on draught has recently been extended and you can now buy these German beers:
Bitburger, Rothaus Pils, Rothaus Weiss, Palaner Munich and Paulaner Weiss. Plus Krosovice Imperial from Prague.
These are in addition to Carlsberg and San Miguel and you'll also find a large range of continental and world bottled beers.
On the left hand side of the building you’ll find a beautifully maintained, comfortable and welcoming traditional Victorian interior, where you can enjoy your drink, entertainment and meal.
A range of light bar snacks are available through the day, along with full meals – if there are more than six people in your party we’d advise that you book ahead. Party bookings are more than welcome, so if you’re thinking of a meal with your work colleagues, a family celebration, or similar then you’d be very welcome here.
There are two large function rooms upstairs (sorry - no disabled access) with a large room that holds 80 people and a small room which holds 20 -30. You can hold your meetings, community group gatherings, social events, AGMs and more in these facilities free of charge.
Catering - buffets, snacks and drinks - can be provided.
Fleetwood Chamber of Trade and Commerce and Fleetwood Amateur Radio Club both meet at the Strawberry Gardens, as do Fleetwood RNLI after training on Tuesday evening each week. Fleetwood Folk Club meet on a Thursday.
