Illuminations Season Launch 2018

Illuminations Season Launch 2018

Another twelve months rolls around, and once again it’s time to gather at Lightworks for the Illuminations Season Launch 2018.

Press, media and sponsors gathered this morning (2 August 2018) in the amazing, massive depot at Squires Gate, to see what’s new for this year.

It’s an amazing opportunity to get up close and personal to just a few of the Lights too. A lot of them are already going out, being fitted in their final positions ready for the Switch On in just a few weeks time.

Ambassador, Laurence Llewelyn Bowen, spoke about how this year it’s all about ‘Colour Choreography’.

The Illuminations are brighter, lighter and cleaner, so they stand out in the busy streetscape, among all of the other bright lights of Blackpool. Completely fitted out with LED lamps (not bulbs, they grow underground!) the attraction is also operating on a more environmental footprint.

Creative Director of LightPool, Alex Rinsler, took the floor at the Illuminations Season Launch 2018. He told us what’s in store at this years LightPool Festival, during October half term. That is an event you DON’T want to miss. Most of it is FREE, and it’s amazing!

Take a look at these photos from our morning out. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making Blackpool shine bright!
